Get Involved
Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

What is the Maverick Volleyball club but the people?
No matter what your availability is, the Mavericks welcome your help and contribution. Every minute of your time will make the club a stronger organization!
Special projects for this 07-08 season:
- Translation of our web site to French: We are in the process of setting up a bilingual site to cater to our francophone clientele. We will work with an editor who will revise all submitted text, so you won't have to worry about spelling mistakes!
- Feeding the media: Maverick Volleyball has plenty of amazing stories to tell. We need people to write articles for newspapers, contact the press and get the local and national media to talk about volleyball and the accomplishments of our youth.
- 4 fun Christmas Tournament: We need organizers for this popular fundraising event.
- Promotion of the club at school tournaments: Over 50 school volleyball tournaments are organized each year in our community. Maverick Volleyball supports these tournaments by organizing contests and providing special MVP and MIP prizes. We also set up an information table for players and parents to learn more about our program. We need volunteers to set up the information table, meet with the school coaches and answer questions about our club.
If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Louise Gratton at louise.gratton@rogers.com or call 613-834-3619

Coaches
Maverick Volleyball is currently accepting applications to coach during the 2007-08 season. The Club has multiple programs for which coaches are required. They are:
Developmental
- Coaches at this level work with athletes who are just learning the sport and are generally aged between 9 and 14. There is an intense focus on the basic skills of the game. Developmental programs are structured over an 8 week period with 90 minute sessions each week.
House League
- This program is designed for athletes who already have intermediate to advanced skills who wish to play once a week and practice once a week. Coaches in the House League Program will spend less time on basic skills and more on game play. Programs run for 10 weeks at a time, with sessions twice a week.
Competitive
- Our Competitive Program involves practices twice a week, participation in the house league, and tournament play all over the province generally once a month. The season runs from September to May depending on the team involved.
High Performance
- Coaches involved in the High Performance Program can expect to eat and sleep volleyball. This program requires the highest dedication as it is the training grounds for our high performance athletes and continues 365 days a year in various forms. Travel can be expected both provincially, nationally and internationally.
Benefits
Coaches in the Maverick Volleyball Club are essential to the growth and development of the sport in our area. Coaches will receive club apparel based on the program they are coaching in, travel expenses to tournaments will be covered, as well as any certification level change. Advancing your certification level is an expense paid by the club as we feel a key to our success is investing in our coaches. If you're not certified, don't worry. We'll direct you to a certification course during the fall of 2007.
Parents Interested In Coaching
Parents who are interested in getting involved as coaches are encouraged to do so. We offer additional discounts to athletes whose parents coach in the club as well.
